App Director - Version 1.2 The following information is provided for use by BBS SysOps and disk vendors. *************************************************************** Keywords: Windows, App Director, APPDIR.EXE, AppDir, menu, launch, application launcher, scheduler, cron, shell *************************************************************** One line (< 80 char) Description: Windows 3.0/3.1 Desktop Menu and App Scheduler. Can be used as your shell. *************************************************************** Overall Feature Description: App Director 1.2 can help unclutter your desktop by giving you a desktop menu for launching applications. It can also schedule application launches (on Windows start-up, at a certain time, on a date/time), giving you flexibility to do tasks when you can't be at your PC to start the application you want to run. Menus: Easily configure a Desktop Menu that can be activated with the mouse or a hot key. Menu passwords are supported. Create a simple menu with only a few of your most frequently used applications, or let App Director create a menu automatically by reading your Windows Program Manager Group Files. The choice is yours, and you will find that using a Desktop Menu is fast and easy. You can use App Director as your User Shell, too. Application Launch and scheduling: App Director can manage your "Start-up Applications" and you can use it to schedule unattended operations, such as back-up or telecommunications software. Schedule applications for launch at a specified time, day, or date/time. Scheduling capabilities also include an exclusive "Warning Dialog" that you can attach to any scheduled application. The Warning Dialog pops up before application launch to give a user the option of aborting or delaying the launch. Installation is automated. Version 1.2 features a re-designed user interface and improvements to many of the v1.1 capabilities. Version 1.2 is compatible with Windows 3.1. The App Director distribution is a self-extracting archive. From DOS, set your current directory to where you want the App Director files to reside and run the archive to extract the files. Or, copy the archive to the directory where you want the files to reside and run the archive from there. Then see the README.APD file for further instructions. Windows Help is provided, which includes a more detailed explanation of the application.
